asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agricul-whether he can now state the number of ex-Service men who, up to 31st March last, had made application for holdings of land to the Board of Agriculture and the county councils, respectively; how many of that number have been approved, and how many actually settled on the laid?

The information desired by my hon. and gallant Friend will be circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT in the form of a table.

Applications received (Officers and Men). Applicants still serving. Applicants who have withdrawn before or after approval. Applicants unsuitable. Applicants awaiting interview or being considered as result of interview. Applicants approved. Applicants settled.

Can the hon. Gentleman make any statement as to whether or not the response of landowners to the invitation of the President of the Board has been satisfactory?

There has been a very considerable response, but all the land offered has not been suitable. A certain amount of land has been availed of already.
