HC Deb 10 April 1919 vol 114 cc2200-1
24. Colonel YATE

asked what steps are being taken to prevent the extermination of seals and penguins in the Antarctic regions?

Colonel AMERY

Sealing in the Colony of the Falkland Islands and its Dependencies is regulated by Ordinances which prohibit the taking of seals without a licence. The taking of penguins at any time has been prohibited; and the eggs of the birds are also protected by law.
