HC Deb 10 April 1919 vol 114 c2210
84. Mr. HAYDAY

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the officials at the Great Central Railway wagon, shops, Annesley, Notts, have refused applicants for work on the ground that they are over forty years of age and that a man of forty-three years of age, with twenty-nine years' experience as a wagon builder and wheelwright, was so refused; and whether he will state if general instructions have been issued by this company that applicants over forty years of age are not to be engaged?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. I am communicating with the railway company on the matter, and will let the hon. Gentleman know the result.
