§ 92. Mr. ALFRED SHORTasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether women clerks whose services are being dispensed with by the Department in which they have been employed are being asked whether they are prepared to accept employment in other Departments at lower rates of wages; and, if so, whether, in view of the fact that such action is not in conformity with the spirit of the Wages (Temporary Regulation) Act, he will give instructions for a discontinuance of the practice?
§ Mr. BALDWIN (Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury)I am not aware of any cases in which temporary clerks are being asked to accept employment in other Departments at lower rates than they have been receiving for the same kind of work and subject to the same conditions of service. The second part of the question accordingly does not arise.
