HC Deb 31 October 1918 vol 110 cc1613-4
106. Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary for Scotland what are the other duties which sheriffs-principal perform in Scotland beyond the decisions in cases appealed to them from their substitutes; and on how many days in the year are they called upon to fulfil these duties?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)

It is not possible by way of question and answer to give an adequate reply to the first part of this inquiry. I have more than once indicated the nature of a sheriff's duties to my hon. and learned Friend and I would refer him particularly to my reply to his question on 28th February, 1917. As regards the second part of the question, the duties are current and not allocated to specific times and seasons.
