HC Deb 21 November 1918 vol 110 cc3456-7
4. Colonel THORNE

asked the Food Controller whether his attention has been drawn to the prices being charged for bottles of wine; and if he intends taking any action in the matter?

Mr. PARKER

The answer is in the affirmative. It has not hitherto been considered advisable to fix maximum prices for wine, in view of the difficulty of standardisation and the enforcement of any objective test, but the question is now under review.

Mr. KING

Is this a new departure, seeing that early in the history of the Food Ministry wine was not considered a food at all, and was left entirely alone?
