HC Deb 12 November 1918 vol 110 c2472
40. Mr. BRUNNER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether officer prisoners of war have had deductions made from their pay for food supplied to them in Germany; whether this food was practically non-existent, necessitating large expenditure by their relatives on parcels; and whether any steps will be taken to refund these deductions?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

Deductions are not made from the pay of officers for food while prisoners. They receive a regulated amount of pay from the captor Government and purchase with it such food as they may require, and can obtain, the rest of their pay and allowances being credited to them at home.
