HC Deb 12 November 1918 vol 110 cc2472-3
38. Mr. BRUNNER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether officers commanding units who have been prisoners of war are allowed to bring to notice the names of officers, non-commissioned officers, and men under their command who especially distinguished themselves in the field but on such occasion were taken prisoner; and, if they are not so allowed, whether he will state the reasons?

Mr. HOPE

I am informed by the military authorities that it is permissible for an officer commanding a unit who has been a prisoner of war to bring to the notice of his superior commander in the field such cases of conspicuous bravery, provided the responsible commander is satisfied that the individual has been captured through no fault of his own.
