HC Deb 12 November 1918 vol 110 c2476
19. Colonel BURN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if men who are classed B2 can only obtain six days' leave in every nine months while B1 men are granted the same privilege every six months; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I presume my hon. and gallant Friend refers to the issue of warrants for free railway journeys. Troops who are liable for service abroad may be allowed a free railway journey to proceed on leave every six months while those who who are not available for service overseas may be granted the same concession once every nine months. In addition to these free journeys, all soldiers serving in the United Kingdom may be granted not more than six return journeys or twelve single journeys a year at one-half the old rates.
