HC Deb 12 November 1918 vol 110 c2477
92. Mr. WHITEHOUSE

asked the Home Secretary if he will place upon the Table of the House the recent correspondence he has had on the question of the conscientious objectors now imprisoned?

Mr. BRACE

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. WHITEHOUSE

Can copies of this correspondence be obtained, and has the right hon. Gentleman any objection to placing them in the Library?

Mr. BRACE

It is a correspondence we do not think ought to be placed on the Table of the House. If the hon. Member wants it, he will find copies in the Press.

93. Mr. WHITEHOUSE

asked the Home Secretary if he will say how many conscientious objectors are now imprisoned and how many are under medical treatment?

Mr. BRACE

There are 1,382 such prisoners at present in custody in the prisons in England and Wales. To ascertain how many of these are under medical treatment would require reference to every prison.
