HC Deb 12 November 1918 vol 110 c2485
42. Colonel McCALMONT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether under the existing Royal Warrant many Regular officers who have held lieutenant-colonel's and brigadier-general's commands in the field will have to retire on annual retired pay varying from £80 after fifteen years' service to £300 after twenty-eight years; and whether, in view of the altered conditions since 1914, the whole question of retired pay will be reconsidered?

Mr. FORSTER

As regards the officers who commanded a brigade, I would refer to my reply of the 21st October to the hon. and gallant Member for Christchurch promising consideration. I do not think that retirement on £80 after fifteen years' service is likely to overtake any Regular officer who has held a lieutenant-colonel's command in the field.
