HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 c1932
78. Captain CARR-GOMM

asked the Secretary to the Treasury what has been the cost to date of the War Savings Department under the head of salaries and under the head of advertisements and publications?

Mr. BALDWIN (Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury)

The salaries and wages paid by the National War Savings committee, since its inception in February, 1916, amount to approximately £62,000 and the cost of advertisements to £270,000. The above figures do not include the expenditure of the Scottish War Savings Committee. The cost of publications cannot be given without very considerable labour.
