76. Colonel GRETTON

asked the Minister of Munitions whether the Central Control Board (Liquor Traffic) has purchased the business of Messrs. Jacob Thomlinson and Company, wine and spirit merchant, Maryport; if so, on what grounds was this purchase made; what was the price paid for this business; and from what source was the money provided?

Mr. KELLAWAY

The Board have decided to acquire under their statutory powers the business of Messrs. Jacob Thomlinson and Company, of Maryport, for the purpose of the proper control of the liquor supply in this part of the Carlisle and District Direct Control area, but the transaction has not yet been completed.
