HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 cc1901-2
24. Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Home Secretary if he will say why G. Butler, conscientious objector, No. 3341, has not yet been released for work under the exceptional employment scheme, his twelve months' approved sentence having expired last September, and he having submitted suitable employment for approval more than a month ago?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir G. Cave)

This man was authorised on the 29th October to take up the employment which he had submitted for the Committee's approval.

25. Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Home Secretary if he is aware that Arthur Gregson, a conscientious objector in Liverpool civil prison, has been in hospital since 24th July of this year; and if he will take steps to authorise his release on health grounds?

Sir G. CAVE

This man was discharged from hospital on the 30th September, but was again admitted to hospital on the 23rd October. The condition of his health does not afford a sufficient reason for authorising his release at the present time, but I shall ask shortly for another report.
