HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 c1928
69. Mr. C. DUNCAN

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, if he is aware that the civilian trade instructors (pensioned chief E. R. As.) employed on H.M.S. "Fisgard," and at the Royal Naval College, Osborne, have not been paid the 12½ per cent. bonus as from the 14th October, 1917, to the 24th March, 1918; whereas the civilan trade instructors employed on H.M.S. "Indus" have been paid this bonus as between the dates referred to; and will he state why differentiation has taken place on the establishments mentioned.

Dr. MACNAMARA

The 12½ per cent. was payable to the mechanic instructors in question as from 24th March, 1918, in accordance with the award of the Committee on Production dated 25th April, 1918. The trade instructors of the "Indus" were incorrectly paid the 12½ per cent. bonus as from the 14th October, 1917, but the Admiralty decided in their discretion to waive recovery of the overpayments.
