§ 60. Mr. ADAMSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any consideration has been given to the position of the Civil Service and other pensioners whose pensions, being on a pre-war basis, are inadequate to meet the present cost of living; and whether, in view of the hardship now being suffered, he will appoint a Committee to inquire into this matter and make recommendations at an early date?
§ Mr. BALDWINI regret that, for reasons which have been frequently stated in the House by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer and myself, I am unable to accept this suggestion.
