HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 c1906
37. Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked the Pensions Minister whether he has taken any steps to bring to the notice of officers who have been accorded a gratuity on the grounds that their disability has neither been caused nor aggravated by war service the fact that they are entitled to apply to an Appeal Tribunal; how many of such appeals have been lodged and what percentage of those lodged have been heard; and what is the percentage of the reversals of the original award?

Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN

Statements were made in this House on 15th May and 5th July last, and were published in the Press, and in several cases officers have been incited to refer their cases to the board. Nineteen appeals have been made to the Appeal Board, of which fourteen have been heard. Of the fourteen, seven have been allowed and seven rejected.
