HC Deb 31 May 1918 vol 106 cc1129-30

(1) A licence, unless suspended or revoked by the Board, shall remain in force until the thirty first day of October following the date of the grant of the licence, but shall be renewable annually, and the same provisions shall apply to the renewal of a licence as apply to the grant of a licence.

Mr. PROTHERO

I beg to move, at the end of Sub-section (1), to insert the words, Provided that in the ease of a stallion which has attained such age as may be prescribed, and in respect of which a licence has been in force for such number of years as may be prescribed the renewal of the licence shall not be refused on the ground only of the stallion being affected in its wind. These words are inserted to make it perfectly clear in the Bill that the promise I made to the House in the Committee stage should be kept and they carry out that promise, namely, that after a certain period the stallion will not be re-examined on the question of wind.

Colonel SANDERS

I raised this question in Committee, and I wish to thank the President for putting this Sub-section into the Bill. I think it will entirely meet the views of those on whose behalf I moved the Amendment during the Committee stage.

Amendment agreed to.
