HC Deb 14 May 1918 vol 106 c189
24. Mr. BOOTH

asked the Comptroller of the Household, as representing the National Health Insurance Commissioners, if the Joint Committee of the National Health Insurance Commissioners meets regularly; what has happened with regard to the women members of the same; whether the Commissioners of Scotland, Wales, and Ireland still attend the joint meetings; and whether their advice and help has been most valuable?

Sir EDWIN CORNWALL (Comptroller of the Household)

The National Health Insurance Joint Committee meets frequently, as necessitated by the requirements of the business falling to be dealt with by it. Mrs. Creighton was the only woman appointed. She resigned in November, 1913, and no other woman member has been appointed since then. The representatives of Scotland, Ireland, and Wales on the Committee are invited to attend all meetings, and are almost invariably present. They consist of the chairmen of the respective Commissions, and naturally their help is most valuable.
