HC Deb 26 June 1918 vol 107 cc1054-5
54. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the Prime Minister what steps, if any, are being taken to encourage supplies of timber from Canada and other parts of the Empire for reconstruction purposes after the War; will he say what Government Department is giving consideration to this question; can he give the House any information as to stocks of timber likely to be available from the Baltic after the demands of the Allies have been met; and whether these are to receive the first claim?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Wardle)

The Prime Minister has asked me to answer this question. The question of timber supplies for after the War is under consideration by the Board of Trade and the Ministry of Reconstruction, but no announcement can be made at present.

Mr. BILLING

Is it proposed to give any preference to our "Dominions" in this case?
