HC Deb 26 June 1918 vol 107 cc1022-3
3. Colonel YATE

asked the Secretary of State for India what has been the increase in trade in grain, rice, flour, and other such commodities at Bahrin and Koweit, in the Persian Gulf, since the commencement of the War; and where this extra amount of grain, etc., is supposed to go to?

Mr. MONTAGU

The information furnished in the Koweit and Bahrin Trade Reports does not bear out the suggestion that imports of the commodities mentioned in the question have increased during the War. I will send them to my hon. and gallant Friend. The question of the ultimate destination of these imports is receiving attention.
