HC Deb 25 June 1918 vol 107 c890
53. Captain D. HALL

asked the Attorney-General if his attention has been called to the remarks of Mr. Justice Atkin, in his summing-up of the Immingham Dock case at the Central Criminal Court, that there was some evidence against the directors of being parties to a continued conspiracy for the breaking of the law and contravention of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and to the learned judge's comments on the alleged payment by the directors of the cost of the manager's defence; and whether it is proposed to take any action against the directors under the Act mentioned?

The SOLICITOR-GENERAL (Sir Gordon Hewart)

My right hon. and learned Friend has asked me to answer this question. His attention has been called to the remarks of the learned judge in the course of his summing-up, and the Attorney-General has given directions that the matters to which the judge alluded shall be further investigated.
