HC Deb 18 June 1918 vol 107 c150
38. Mr. BOOTH

asked the Home Secretary if any appeal has been made to the Isle of Man to legislate upon national service on the lines of British Acts of Parliament, and what is the result; and how the island deals with conscientious-objection to military service?

Mr. BRACE

The Isle of Man (War Legislation) Act, 1914, gives power to extend to the island by Order in Council any Act of the Imperial Parliament passed to meet an emergency created by the War; and under this power the Military Service Acts have, with the concurrence of the island Legislature, been extended to the Isle of Man, subject to the necessary adaptations. Conscientious objectors are in the same position as in the United Kingdom.
