Mr. BALFOURSo far as I am aware, no Allied State has recognised the independence of the Ukraine. I do not know exactly what date the hon. Member accepts as that on which the Ukraine became separated from the Russian Republic. It may, perhaps, be sufficient to say that since that region became completely subservient to Germany it has received no assistance from the Allies.
