HC Deb 17 June 1918 vol 107 c26
15. Mr. KING

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that the present regime in Finland has been set up and is maintained through German military intervention; and whether he will take the sense of this House before recognising a State dependent on German militarism?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Balfour)

There seems no doubt that the Finnish Government is entirely under German influence. In existing circumstances, His Majesty's Government do not propose to recognise it.
