§ 55. Mr. WINGasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, under the continued pressure of National Service, the relatives of old age pensioners are being called up; and, in consequence, will he consider the advisability of granting to old age pensioners whose financial status has been settled since the autumn of 1914, the concessions granted to pre-war old age pensioners, namely, allotments and allowances, without being counted as income?
§ Mr. BALDWIN (Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury)The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, I am not sure what the hon. Member means by "old age pensioners whose financial status has been settled since the autumn of 1914." If he refers to old age pensioners whose pensions have been granted since then, I may explain that the administrative concessions in Command Paper 8320 apply, irrespective of the date of grant of the pension, to all old age pensioners whose means are increased temporarily after the grant of the pension.
