58. Colonel Sir F. HALLasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he is aware that there are officers of the rank of major serving in the Territorial Force holding the appointment of quartermaster who only receive 10s. a day as against 11s. 6d. a day for a lieutenant and 13s. 6d. a day for a captain in the Regular 1744 Army; whether the pay of a quartermaster in the Army starts at 10s. a day, increasing to 16s.; and if, as no distinction can be drawn either as to the importance or responsibility or the danger of officers holding this position in the Territorial Force and of those in the Regular Army, he will undertake to have the matter looked into, with a view of placing both branches of the Service upon the same footing as regards pay?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONXo, Sir. The pay of a quartermaster in the Territorial Force is the same as in the Regular Army. It begins at 10s. 6d., and rises to a maximum of 16s. 6d.
