HC Deb 04 June 1918 vol 106 cc1400-1
36. Mr. PENNEFATHER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that in some cases local war pensions committees have to arrange for the training of discharged soldiers for lengthy periods at considerable distances from their homes; and will he arrange that all such men may have season tickets issued to them at the usual rates?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Wardle)

It is not the intention that men discharged from the forces shall be precluded from obtaining season tickets to enable them to attend courses of training arranged for them by war pensions committees. I fear it is not possible, however, to arrange for their exemption from the increases in the price of season tickets.
