HC Deb 29 July 1918 vol 109 cc20-1
23. Sir S. SCOTT

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Germans continue to pay rent in Germany to British subjects interned in Germany for land or premises owned by the latter?

Mr. BALFOUR

Certain British subjects interned in Germany have registered at the Foreign Claims Office claims for arrears of rent due, and not paid to them in respect of land or houses owned by them in Germany. It is not possible, however, to say whether rent is in no oases paid. None of the existing decrees or Regulations of the German Government, of which copies are available here, seems to give a definite ruling on the point.
