HC Deb 29 July 1918 vol 109 cc7-8
53. Sir RICHARD COOPER

asked if there are eight Government Departments concerned in the administration of the Regulations affecting aliens and alien businesses; and if he will make an announcement before the Recess of the steps he will take to co-ordinate this administration?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I do not think that it would be possible to combine the duties in this respect of the Home Office and the Board of Trade.

Sir R. COOPER

Does the right hon. Gentleman mean that there are two Departments concerned in the administration of this matter, and does he know that the eight Departments are too busy fighting one another to have time to carry out the policy of His Majesty's Government?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I was not aware of it.

Sir R. COOPER

I can give the right hon. Gentleman proof of it.
