HC Deb 18 July 1918 vol 108 c1201
24. Sir R. COOPER

asked if the application for naturalisation by Her Royal Highness Princess Loewenstein-Wertheim was considered and approved of by him, and did he take into account the previous history of this princess which had been published in the Press?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir George Cave)

I would refer the hon. Baronet to the statement which I made about this case in the course of the Debate on Thursday last.

Sir R. COOPER

Is it not a fact that he was not informed at the time that this lady had given a false name and address, had travelled without a permit, and had made suspicious inquiries about an aeroplane?

Sir G. CAVE

I was informed that there had been a case against her, and I was also told that the magistrate expressly said there was no reflection on her loyalty.

Sir R. COOPER

Is it a fact that the magistrate did make that remark?

Sir G. CAVE

I was told so.
