HC Deb 18 July 1918 vol 108 c1201
5. Sir RICHARD COOPER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if it has been a principle regularly followed by the German Government before the War that no alien, even when naturalised as a German citizen, can hold any Government or public office; and will he say where reference can be found to this matter in any official records published in this country?

Lord R. CECIL

The reply is in the negative, as the hon. Baronet will observe by reference to paragraphs 14 and 15 of the German Imperial and State Nationality Law of 22nd July, 1913, which has been printed as a White Paper and laid before Parliament in March, 1914, number Cd. 7277.
