§ 62. Captain BARNETTasked the Secretary to the Board of Trade whether, with a view to economy of time and paper, he has considered the desirability of simplifying and standardising the forms of tender and invoice used by the various Government Departments; and, if so, whether he is now in a position to state what steps it is proposed to take in order to secure this object?
Sir A. STANLEYI should welcome any action which the spending Departments may find it possible to take in the direction suggested, and I will communicate with those Departments on the subject.
§ Captain BARNETTIs my right hon. Friend aware that some important Government Departments print a large part of the Law of England in their tender forms, while other Departments are satisfied with a businesslike form which contains no law at all?
