HC Deb 23 January 1918 vol 101 cc1096-7

"This Act shall cease to have effect at the expiration of the financial year next after that in which the present War terminated."—[Sir Henry Harris.]

Brought up, and read the first time.

Sir H. HARRIS

I beg to move, "That the Clause be read a second time.''

The object of this Clause is merely to secure that the question how the cost of these services is to be met after the War shall not be prejudiced by anything that is done now.

Sir G. CAVE

This is a reasonable Clause, and I am prepared to accept it.

Question put, and agreed to.

Clause added to the Bill.

Bill reported; as amended, considered; read the third time, and passed.

The remaining Orders were read, and postponed.

Whereupon Mr. DEPUTY-SPEAKER, pursuant to the Order of the House of the 12th February, proposed the Question, "That this House do now adjourn."
