HC Deb 18 January 1918 vol 101 c606
15. Major DAVIES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether all regimental officers who have served at the front for twelve months and upwards, and who have subsequently undergone a course of Staff training in this country, and who have satisfactorily passed their examinations, have been interchanged with other Staff officers who have not had regimental experience in the present War; and whether a complete system for the interchange of Staff and regimental officers is now in existence and in operation at the front?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, so far as the exigencies of the Service permit. In regard to the last part, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answers which I gave him on the 18th December, 1917.

Major DAVIES

Is my hon. Friend aware that there are still officers in France who have gone through a course of Staff training, and who afterwards have returned and been sent back to regimental duty, whereas there are a large number of other officers who have not had regimental experience during the War?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I must have notice of that.
