HC Deb 27 February 1918 vol 103 c1381
63. Mr. MILLAR

asked the Secretary for Scotland the number of houses which it is proposed to provide for Scotland under the post-War building scheme, and the steps which are being taken to secure the necessary material and labour for that purpose, in order that immediate action may be taken after the War?

Mr. MORISON

My right hon. Friend hopes to be in a position at an early date to make a statement in regard to housing. He desires me to assure my hon. and learned Friend that the necessity of making due and adequate preparation is not being overlooked.

Mr. MILLAR

Is it not the case that an announcement has already appeared in the Press with regard to the number of houses proposed to be built in Scotland after the War; and is it not desirable that statements should be made in this House before they are circulated in the Press?

Mr. MORISON

I am not personally aware that the statement was circulated in the newspapers, but I know that my right hon. Friend is going to speak on the subject at an early date.

Mr. MILLAR

Can the hon. and learned Gentleman say when we may expect the statements?

Mr. MORISON

I cannot give the date.
