HC Deb 27 February 1918 vol 103 cc1381-2
65. Mr. ADAMSON

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether he has received a protest from ratepayers in Bellshill, Moss-end, and district against the demolition of houses in the district and the consequent dishousing of tenants; and whether, in view of the present congestion and lack of houses, he will arrest demolition and help to secure the erection of more houses?

Mr. MORISON

My right hon. Friend has received the protest referred to. The site of the houses referred to was urgently required for the extension of Messrs. Beardmore's munitions works. I am informed that negotiations are in progress for providing accommodation for the tenants who are displaced.
