HC Deb 27 February 1918 vol 103 c1377
49. Sir F. HALL

asked the Prime Minister if he will appoint a small expert Committee to inquire into the office organisation of the various Government Departments, with a view to ascertaining what improved methods of administration might be adopted with the object of effecting economies as regards staff and accommodation and promoting efficiency?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I think that this suggestion—so far as it relates to office organisation—has been sufficiently met by the appointment of the Committee under the chairmanship of Sir John Bradbury.

Sir F. HALL

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many Government offices have a plethora of those who are supposed to do the work, and whether under the circumstances, and with a view to the saving to be effected, he will at all events consider the matter?

Mr. BONAR LAW

It was for that very matter that I appointed the Committee.
