HC Deb 27 February 1918 vol 103 cc1350-1
66. Mr. DUNCAN MILLAR

asked the Minister of National Service whether his attention has been drawn to the case of Mr. David Dobbie, an apprentice turner, who while serving the last year of his apprenticeship at the Coltness Iron Company's works, at Newmains, was accepted at the recruiting Office, Bath Street, Glasgow, for enlistment in the Royal Flying Corps, and who, in breach of the undertaking then given him that he would be posted to the Royal Flying Corps, and notwithstanding his special training as a turner, has now been posted to the Black Watch; and whether he will take immediate steps to have this man transferred to the Royal Flying Corps service, for which he is specially suited by his training?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of NATIONAL SERVICE (Mr. Beck)

Careful inquiries are being made into the circumstances of Mr. Dobbie's enlistment, and I will inform the hon. Member of the result as early as possible.
