HC Deb 20 February 1918 vol 103 cc741-2
66. Mr. H. LAW

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether receipt of separation allowance constitutes a disqualification for old age pensions; and, if not, whether he will issue instructions to pension officers to that effect?

Mr. BALDWIN

Receipt of separation allowance does not constitute a disqualification for the grant of an old age pension, but separation allowance received by a claimant to an old age pension has, under the law, to be taken into account for the purpose of deciding whether on the ground of means he is entitled to pension. Pension officers are fully aware of the position.
