HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 cc1339-40
31. Major Sir E. COATES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that paragraph II. of the Order by His Majesty, Regulation for Officers of the Special Reserve, states: Officers of the Special Reserve when called up for Army service at a time of national emergency shall be governed by the provisions contained in the several Royal Warrants, Regulations, and Orders for the time being governing the Regular Forces so far as such Regulations and Orders may respectively be applicable to them; and will he state why officers of the Special Reserve found temporarily unfit for military service whose disability has not been caused or aggravated by such service are now being demobilised without pay or being given the annual retaining fee, seeing that from the above it would appear that they should be eligible to be placed on half-pay as is done in the case of Regular officers similarly situated?

Mr. FORSTER
