HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 c1339
30. Mr. NUGENT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a war bonus of 7s. to males and 4s. to females per week was granted to civilian subordinate clerks employed in a temporary capacity in Government offices, any included; whether he is aware that this bonus is paid to the clerks in every such office in Dublin except the Forage Department, Army Service Corps, Kilmainham; if he will state whether the civilian clerks in the office referred to are entitled to the war bonus; and, if so, when will it be paid and will the payment be retrospective?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

The bonus granted to civilian clerks (men and women) employed by the War Department in a temporary capacity is not a fixed sum, but depends on the date at which existing rates of wages have been fixed. The question as to the adequacy of the rates now being paid to the clerks in the Forage Department office at Kilmainham is being inquired into.
