HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 c1356
60. Mr. CURRIE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that £9,000,000 was repaid to payers of Excess Profits Duty entitled to equalising repayments in terms of the Finance Acts in respect of the last year for which figures are available, be can say whether such repayments are now being made on a much larger scale so as to affect materially the yield of the duty?

Mr. BONAR LAW

In estimating the yield of Excess Profits Duty for the current year allowance was made for sums to be repaid or set off under the provision to which my hon. Friend refers. The proportion borne by these amounts to the total assessments shows no marked increase.
