§ Mr. MONTAGUProposals for the grant of children's allowances to officers of the Indian Army, Indian Army Reserve, and Indian Medical Service have been received from the Government of India, and are under reference to the War Office. I have proposed that the allowances should be granted with retrospective effect to 1st October, 1917, the date of the commencement of the allowance for British Service officers.
