HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 c1323
4. Colonel YATE

asked the Secretary of State for India if he can now state the result of his reference to the Government of India regarding the extension of the grant of children's allowances, given to officers of the British Service serving in India, to officers of the Indian Army?

Mr. MONTAGU

Proposals for the grant of children's allowances to officers of the Indian Army, Indian Army Reserve, and Indian Medical Service have been received from the Government of India, and are under reference to the War Office. I have proposed that the allowances should be granted with retrospective effect to 1st October, 1917, the date of the commencement of the allowance for British Service officers.
