HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 c1325
34. Mr. HAZLETON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will state on what grounds Edward Brennan, Friaryland, Creggs, county Galway, was arrested at his home at 4 a.m. on 31st July and deported from Ireland without any process of Law to Warrington where, without being given time to arrange for his defence, he was handed over to the military authorities as liable to Conscription in spite of the fact that, except for the four months from 13th June, 1915, to 14th October of the same year which he spent in England, he was never out of Ireland and had no home or domicile other than at Creggs; and will he see that this man is at once discharged from the Army?

The MINISTER of NATIONAL SERVICE (Sir A. Geddes)

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply. I had not heard of this case until I saw the hon. Member's question, but am having inquiries made into the facts.
