HC Deb 02 August 1918 vol 109 c784
6. Mr. DAVIDSON DALZIEL

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of introducing, at an early date, legislation making it compulsory that any person elected as a Member of this House shall present himself and take the oath of allegiance within two months of his election, failing which, unless he can show cause to the satisfaction of the House why such period of delay may be extended, he shall automatically cease to be a Member of this House?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Bonar Law)

The Government are not prepared to adopt my hon. Friend's suggestion.
