HC Deb 29 April 1918 vol 105 cc1282-3
49. Major NEWMAN

asked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed to introduce and place on the Statute Book legislation dealing with the naturalisation of allied, neutral, and enemy aliens during the present Session; and is there any Committee at present engaged in considering this after the War problem?

Sir G. CAVE

I have been asked to reply to this question. I hope at once to introduce a Bill dealing with the denaturalisation of aliens, which is the only part of the question requiring immediate legislation. Other points connected with naturalisation have already been fully considered, and proposals have been framed which will, I hope, be adopted at the end of the War.

Major NEWMAN

Is there not a Committee sitting now, and dealing with this matter?

Sir G. CAVE

The Committee has sat and reported.

Mr. BILLING

Will the Home Secretary consider the advisability of requesting that all aliens should wear distinguishing badges in their button-holes to show—

Mr. SPEAKER

That does not arise out of this question.
