HC Deb 23 April 1918 vol 105 c838
25. Major DAVIES

asked the Pensions Minister whether it is competent for the War Pensions Committees to make provision for medical advice and treatment of widows and children of soldiers, including the wives and children of soldiers who are now serving in the Army; and, if not, whether he will take steps to issue the necessary Regulations to ensure this being done?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen)

It is not within the competence of Local War Pensions Committees to make general provision for medical advice and treatment of the wives or widows and children of soldiers. Special cases in which there is pecuniary need can be met, as I explained to the hon. and gallant Member in an answer I gave him on the 19th March, by Grants under the recently extended Regulations, of the Special Grants Committee.
