HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 c8
20. Mr. G. LAMBERT

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if he is aware that motor tractors were ploughing cold clay land in Devonshire in the early part of April, when the possibility of getting a crop from such land during this season is exceedingly remote; and if he proposes to take any action in the matter?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Richard Winfrey)

If my right hon. Friend will kindly inform me as to the district in which the ploughing to which he refers took place, I will have immediate inquiry made into the matter, and will inform him of the result.
