HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 c17
15. Colonel YATE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the twelve German subjects remaining in the British concession of Shameen, in China, have now been cleared out; and whether the buildings comprising the German Consulate, post office, bank, and commercial firms have now been taken over and their leases terminated?

Lord R. CECIL

The position as regards the twelve enemy subjects remaining in the British concession of Shameen is the same as in the answer given to the hon. Member's previous question on the 21st January. All enemy commercial firms have been required to close their offices and cease to do business. The question of the termination of the leases of the German Consulate, post office, bank, and commercial firms is still under consideration.
